Thrash metal pioneers Metallica are one band who've never been afraid of a challenge, but in 1998 they tried an experiment that surprised both fans and casual observers -- they performed a special concert with the San Francisco Symphony, in which the group and conductor/arranger Michael Kamen brought together the group's raw guitar firepower with the dynamic range of a full orchestra. A camera crew was on hand to record the event, and Metallica: S&M captures the full 150-minute concert in its entirety. The band performs two new songs, Human and No Leaf Clover, as well as eighteen classics from their back catalog, including Enter Sandman, The Call Of Ktulu, Master Of Puppets, The Thing... |

Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks) is a more-than-slightly paranoid Clown Fish who is extremely devoted to his young son, Nemo (voice of Alexander Gould), the only survivor after a hungry shark swallowed up Nemo's mother and her other offspring. It's not Marlin's nature to explore unfamiliar waters, but when he and Nemo are accidentally separated near the Great Barrier Reef en route to Nemo's first day of fish school, Marlin gathers his courage and sets out to find his son. What Marlin doesn't know, however, is... |

The politically involved rock quartet sets their sights on American musical influences, previously ignored. They quickly immerse themselves in the musical culture with a recording session at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. Four tracks were recorded that ended up on their next record appropriately called Rattle And Hum. Blues Legend B.B.King adds his vocals and guitar work to Love Comes To Town, and Angel Of Harlem is a passionate tribute to the late Billie Holiday. Despite several other sequels on his plate (The Chronicles of Riddick, XXX2), Vin Diesel opted to not appear in the sequel to the film the shot him to stardom in the first place, The Fast and the Furious. With the character of Dominic Toretto out of the picture, 2 Fast 2 Furious concentrates exclusively on the latest exploits of undercover agent Brian O'Connor, played by Paul Walker. In addition, with director Rob Cohen passing, producers have added a dash of credibility to the sequel by hiring John Singleton to helm. What does completely remain from the first film is the presence of fast-living underground street-racing gangs. Moving from Los Angeles to Miami, O'Connor is looking... |

Four men are changed forever by an act of mercy -- changes which have a profound impact many years later -- in this blend of horror and science fiction based on a novel by Stephen King. Jonsey (Damian Lewis), Henry (Thomas Jane), Pete (Timothy Olyphant), and Beaver (Jason Lee) were four friends who, as schoolboys, rescued a boy with Down's Syndrome, Duddits (Donnie Wahlberg), from a savage beating at the hands of bullies. Their experience with Duddits left the boys profoundly changed, as they discovered they had developed psychic powers which allowed them to wordlessly communicate with one another, read the minds of others, and see events in the future. The four remained close friends... |

When a presidential candidate dies unexpectedly in the middle of the campaign, the Democratic party unexpectedly picks a Washington, D.C. alderman, Mays Gilliam (Rock) as his replacement. Chris Rock, long time stand-up comedian, makes his directorial debut in `Head Of State.' This film was surprisingly impressive. Although it is predictable and not completely original, it is inspired. Rock brings along a comical sense that is all his own and makes `Head Of State' a winner. Besides the humor of Rock, Bernie Mac also stars as Rock's brother. Mac (`Ocean's Eleven') is hilarious in the role and with the likes of these two comedians, it ultimately leads `Head Of State' to be a better comedy than... |

Call it The Full Monty on ice. With tongue firmly in cheek, director-writer-star Paul Gross applies the old underdog sports-team formula to that great Northern obsession: curling. (You thought hockey was the national obsession? So did Canada.) You know the score: estranged teammates reunite to fulfill a dead man's last request, win glory for their fictional hometown, and earn back their hibernating self-respect. Square-jawed Gross recalls his Due South days as the amiable team captain, a boy scout with an impish streak. Leslie Nielsen turns down the usual goofball shtick to play Gross's crotchety, self-medicating father. There are enough issues here to fuel a dozen movies and none of them packs the punch of a... |
